Following last year, the results of the “Birdmate Cup 2025: All 644 Bird Species General Election,” in which bird lovers from across Japan took part, have been announced. A total of 4,756 votes were cast, and soaring proudly to 1st place was our familiar friend, the sparrow (496 votes)!
In 2nd place was the Great tit, loved for its charming song (204 votes), and in 3rd place was the migratory swallow (180 votes). All of them are familiar sights we can encounter in our daily lives.
Looking at the results, it seems that the birds closest to our everyday lives are also the ones closest to our hearts. Next time you see a sparrow chirping somewhere, you might just feel like saying “Congratulations!” in your heart. See you next time!
