It’s that time of the year again for the Japan Wild Bird Society’s “Birdmate Cup★Bird Species Grand Election.” This year is particularly special as it marks the 90th anniversary of the Japan Wild Bird Society’s founding. For this special occasion, the election will feature all 633 species of wild birds that can be seen in Japan! Let me introduce you to this exciting event!

What is Birdmate?
Have you heard of “Birdmate(Only Japanese websites)“? It refers to the adorable bird-themed pins created annually by the Japan Wild Bird Society. Started in 1996, a new pin is released every year. These pins are given as a token of appreciation to donors. The bird chosen in this year’s election might become the Birdmate pin for 2025!
