Despite their small size of about 14-15 cm, Great Tits have a remarkable presence! Their trademark is a black necktie, and the width of the necktie differs between males and females. Males have a thicker necktie, while females have a thinner one. This feature makes it easy to distinguish their sex.<\/p>\n\n\n

They mainly eat insects and can consume an astonishing 125,000 bugs in a year. That’s a surprise even to me! Such a big eater for a small body – it’s impressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Great Tits have dozens of different calls they use to communicate with their peers and family. Moreover, each of these calls has a meaning; for example, a ‘trill’ can mean ‘I’m hungry.’ They are truly masters of their own little language! I often hear their calls like ‘tsip,’ ‘peet-tsip,’ and ‘tsu-pee’ in my neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
