Hello everyone! We received a photo from Australia, and it features a beautiful large parrot with white feathers and a vibrant yellow crest called the “Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo.” Learning about their lifestyle and habits will surely make you fall in love with them even more.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo is about 50 cm long. Its beautiful white feathers and striking yellow crest are characteristic features. Males have black eyes, while females have reddish-brown eyes, making it easy to distinguish between the sexes. These large parrots are widely distributed, mainly in Australia, but they can also be seen in Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos are highly intelligent and very curious. They are friendly and often referred to as “dog-like birds.” There have even been news reports of them learning how to open trash cans and teaching the skill to their peers. Clever, aren\u2019t they?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their call is very loud and can be heard from far away. They feed on grains, fruits, and insects. Additionally, they have a habit called geophagy, where they eat clay to detoxify their food.<\/p>\n\n\n
